Privacy Policy
Your trust matters more than your data. Here is exactly what we collect and what we never do with it.
Private attachments and safety review
Microphone and camera access starts only after you choose to use it and give permission. Recording stops when the reporting page is hidden or left. Media is never required to report a hazard.
Attachments are stored privately, with access limited to the report owner and authorised reviewers. Unreviewed or flagged media is not published. Sensitive media is opened only on an explicit review request, never through public thumbnails or autoplay.
Private attachments expire after 30 days and cannot be opened after expiry. You may delete your attachments from report history. A daily cleanup removes expired stored files; audit decisions are retained for accountability without storing copies of the media.
Report descriptions are checked by a server-side AI language review. It may make mistakes; warnings are not accusations and respectful criticism is allowed. Reports and attachments also remain subject to human review. You may appeal from report history.
1. Who we are
Famba Zvakanaka is a Zimbabwean road safety platform that lets road users report hazards and helps drivers find verified roadside assistance. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
Hazard reports: the hazard type, location (GPS coordinates or a named place), description and any photos, videos or voice notes you choose to attach.
Account information (once accounts launch): your name, contact details and login credentials.
Technician verification data: identity documents and selfies submitted by technicians are used only to verify applications. They are never published, never shown to other users and never shared except where the law requires.
Usage information: basic technical data such as device type and pages visited, used to keep the service reliable and secure.
3. How we use information
To review and publish hazard reports so other road users can be warned.
To verify technicians and, only with their explicit approval, publish their public directory listing.
To operate, maintain and improve the platform, and to keep it safe from abuse.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
4. What is public and what is not
Public: validated hazard warning text, category, reported location, timestamps, verification status and aggregate community observation counts. Warnings may be unverified and are clearly labelled. Reporter identities, attachments and individual observer identities are not published. Provider listings require the provider’s approval.
Never public: technician identity documents, verification selfies, your contact details and your precise location history.
5. Location data
Location is used to place hazard reports on the map and to show hazards near you. You can always enter a location manually instead of sharing GPS. We do not track your movements in the background.
6. Data retention and your rights
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above. You may ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, and technicians may ask for their listing to be updated or removed at any time.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we design the platform so that sensitive data — especially verification documents — is never exposed publicly.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update this page and, for significant changes, announce them in the app. This policy applies from the date it is published and will be dated once the service launches.
